After sharing the engagement news, the couple received a lot of love from friends and fellow stars, including John Legend who commented, "Congratulations!!"
Charlie and Brooke's relationship update comes nearly a year after they went Instagram official while celebrating his 31st birthday.
"Ohhhhh I'm NOT a loser…'cause I didn't lose her!!!," he wrote on Instagram Dec. 2 alongside PDA photo booth pics. "(Happy birthday to me.)"
The post came shortly after Charlie revealed to Howard Stern that he was dating someone special who he grew up with in New Jersey.
"As my life gets more turbulent and I travel everywhere," Charlie said on The Howard Stern Show in October, "it's nice to have someone close to you that you've known for a very long time."
And it seems like he had a change of heart about sharing engagement news with the world. As he told Howard at the time, "If I do, certainly the media won't know about it. And I'll go out of my way to make sure that they don't know about it because it becomes too much."
